Weld County Public Works hiring: -Public works Equipment Operator (Grader) Operate out of one location: Roctport, Dacono, Johnstown or Greeley

Multiple positions open reporting to separate locations. Operate construction equipment for routine maintenance and reconstruction tasks on county gravel roads in the following locations: Rockport, Dacono, Johnstown and Rover (Shed).
Positions will operate out of one of the following locations: Rockport, Dacono, Johnstown or Greeley, Colorado.
This position may progress to a Public Works Grader III.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy and light construction or road maintenance equipment.
• Incumbent may have some lead worker responsibilities.
• Advanced level of Gravel Road maintenance.
• This position must be proficient in the operation of a motor grader and have a good working knowledge of a wide variety of heavy equipment used in gravel road maintenance.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of gravel road maintenance procedures.
• Must be able to perform work without direction or immediate supervision and follow detailed instruction to aid in the efficient and effective completion of the project or assigned task.
• Must be available to respond to and work extraordinary hours during emergency events.
• Must perform work in a courteous and safe manner.
• When contact with the public is required, the employee must maintain a courteous, helpful attitude.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualification Requirements:

Education:
High School Diploma or GED/equivalent.
Experience and Knowledge:
• Requires two years of heavy or light equipment operation including motor grader experience.
• Must be proficient as determined by the department in the operation of a motor grader and have a good working knowledge of a wide variety of heavy equipment.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of gravel road maintenance procedures.
• Must be able to perform work without direction or immediate supervision to aid in the efficient and effective completion of the project or assigned task.
• Must be available to respond to and work extraordinary hours during emergency events.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally through radio communications.
Valid Colorado Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement required.
Position reports directly to one location designation for position placement: Rockport, Dacono, Johnstown or Greeley for Rover position.
Other Necessary Requirements
Language Skills:
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations with the public, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally through radio communications.
Mathematical Skills:
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to make appropriate day to day decisions without supervisory guidance in order to perform assigned tasks.
• Must be able to organize and schedule own work.
Other Skills And Abilities:
• Must have a basic familiarity with and experience working with a variety of road construction, equipment and materials.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• Valid Colorado Class A CDL License with tanker endorsement required.
