Director of Community Impact
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Director of Community Impact for the Urban Research and Community Engagement department to work with the urbanCore unit. urbanCORE is seeking a Director for Community Impact who will be the primary staff person for identifying, enlisting, and supporting community partners that seek to work in collaboration with university faculty, students, and outreach functions to collectively pursue mutually beneficial outcomes for the community and campus. The Director will serve as a kind of community organizer, with a particular focus on assisting community-based organizations that may have limited experience working with the university, while also helping to drive urbanCORE’s engagement priorities and those of UNC Charlotte’s strategic plan.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant work experience in a community-based, non-profit, or government organization interacting with community organizations and leaders. Please see the posting for additional information.
Essential Job Duties: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with community-based organizations in line with urbanCORE priorities and initiatives, including new partnerships with community leaders and organizations. Advance an asset-based orientation toward community engagement by advocating for community partners as essential and peer participants in the university’s engagement objectives. Support the community partnership efforts of urbanCORE affiliates Urban Institute and Women + Girls Research Alliance. Manage key, community-driven projects within urbanCORE, including the Community Innovation Incubator. In collaboration with the Director of Engaged Scholarship, assist faculty in their engaged scholarship endeavors by helping to identify appropriate community partners for community-based research and teaching.
