Position Summary:
Performs preventative and routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment, e.g., police vehicles, excavators, snowplows, dump trucks, sweepers mowers, 4wd trucks, ATV’s and passenger vehicles; on a range of systems e.g., mechanical, electrical and hydraulic. Will assist with a variety of routine and special activities for the Public Works Streets Department. Other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate’s degree or trade school degree is preferred with one (1) year or more experience working as an equipment and/or vehicle mechanic or mechanic’s helper. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, general construction practices, and standard safety practices. Prefer experience with oil and tire changes, skill using basic hand tools and operating lawn mowing and snow plowing equipment. Ability to be “On Call” during non-regular hours to address snowplowing, water leaks, etc. Ability to start snow plow work shift at 2:00 a.m., as required.
