Employment Specialists in New Haven County
We are currently seeking Employment Specialists for New Haven County. One position is for a bilingual (English / Spanish) speaking individual.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Employment Specialists will assist and support individuals with disabilities in obtaining competitive employment through vocational assessments, job support, guidance, and instruction to perform their job duties in the New Haven/Middletown area. The Employment Specialists will be responsible for training individuals on the job site to the requirements of the employer.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related area (preferred).
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with 1 – 2 years of direct (hands-on) experience with individuals with a wide range of intellectual & physical disabilities.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, nights and weekends.
Access to a computer and proficient with Microsoft Word.
Immediate access to a vehicle to drive from one employment site to another, valid CT driver’s license, proof of current vehicle insurance and registration and acceptable DMV record.
Ability to work independently, have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions such as, cold, snow, rain, freezing rain, heat; this is dependent on the community activity and/or the employment site.
Requirements for Bilingual Employment Specialist
English/Spanish proficiently is required, must pass the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Proficiency Test, be able to read and write in the English language.
