Lead Food Service Worker-PT Evening
Salary: $12.09-$14.70 Hourly
Summary:
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Administrative Services, prepares work schedules, orders food products, submits requisition, produces cash-drawer reconciliation, prepares meals, oversees the cooking and serving of a variety of foods in a food service program. The Lead Food Service Worker works 16 hours per week and supervises other food service employees, student employees or volunteers.
Part Time position working Afternoon/Evening coverage Monday-Thursday 3:00PM-7:00PM
Education and Experience:
• Five years experience in commercial or institutional quantity food preparation, on a paid or volunteer basis. Certification from the American School Food Service Association is desirable; maintaining a current Serv Safe certificate is desirable.
• Sufficient education to have basic skills in reading, record keeping and arithmetic is required.
Licenses and Certificates
• Health Department Sanitation Certificate or equivalent.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills
The Lead Food Service Worker must have knowledge of modern methods of preparing and serving soups, entrees, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, salads, breads and desserts in large quantities; use and care of institutional kitchen equipment and utensils; proper cleaning and sanitizing methods; principles of sanitation and kitchen safety; basic arithmetic necessary for recipe conversion to quantities needed for food service to students.

The Lead Food Service Worker must also have to ability to prepare and serve a wide variety of food; work rapidly and efficiently in rush conditions; work effectively with college personnel and students; follow recipes and oral instructions; convert recipes to amount of food production needed; apply and maintain high standards of sanitation and personal hygiene.

Distinguishing Characteristics
The Lead Food Service Worker prepares or assists in the preparation of food and provides support and food service to students and staff and oversees the full operation of a cafeteria.
Duties:
• Prepares work schedules for all foodservice employees;
• Orders food products and supplies;
• Produces costs and revenue reports;
• Prepares end-of-day cash drawer reconciliation;
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of a variety of foods, which may include soups, entrees, salads, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, breads or desserts following standardized recipes, menus, and portion controls, and in accordance with departmental work production standards;
• Sets up food on serving lines and/or steam tables and serves meals or meal components;
• Stores or disposes excess food properly; washes, sanitizes and stores dishes, tableware and kitchen utensils;
• Scrubs counters, and disposes of wastes properly; operates and cleans all kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, mixers, choppers, slicers and dishwashing machines;
• Stores food and supplies in accordance with instructions and assists in taking inventories; Operates and maintains point of sale system when assigned;
• Performs related duties as assigned.
