Customer Service Representative I/II/III (part time)
The Position:
We are currently seeking a customer service oriented person to fill this position for 25-hours per week (ideally 5-hours per day, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm but times are flexible). The ideal candidate provides exemplary customer service to all individuals by demonstrating a willingness to be attentive, understanding and responsive, fair, courteous and respectful, and to actively participate in maintaining a positive customer service environment and team. Under direct supervision, the position performs a variety of customer service, utility billing, and clerical functions.
Typical Duties:
Acts as a receptionist including answering and managing a multi-line telephone, assisting the general public, and providing information on District policies and procedures. Performs a variety of routine administrative duties including recordkeeping, filing, processing of utility bills, typing, data management, and operating office machines. Employment Standards:
Qualifications: Knowledge of basic modern office practices, methods, and equipment and computer applications related to work, including telephone, word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel); basic arithmetic techniques; record keeping and filing principles and procedures; English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation; techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and District staff.
Education & Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities in customer service and public office work. Typical education and experience for each range in this series are:
Customer Service Representative I: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and one (1) year of clerical experience including public contact.
Customer Service Representative II: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and two (2) years of clerical experience including public contact. Additional specialized clerical training, secretarial experience, accounting, and/or computer training is desirable.
Customer Service Representative III: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and four (4) years of increasing responsible clerical, accounting, or bookkeeping experience including experience working with the public, and completion of 30 college units with an emphasis in accounting or a related field.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver License. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable to operate District vehicles. Typing Certificate of 45 net wpm at time of application, within the last six months.
