Assistant Director, Facilities Services

The George Mason University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director, Facilities Services. Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be part of the team that directs and implements preventative and reactive maintenance on the Field House, George Mason Stadium, Spuhler Field, Softball Stadium, Basketball Offices, and practice fields. Additional duties included in the areas of staffing, budgeting, facility coordination, rentals, and snow removal.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • Must have a working knowledge of tools and equipment to make minor repairs and conduct routine maintenance;
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary;
  • Ability to work in varying climates, including cold, heat, and various forms of precipitation; and
  • Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator’s license that meets all of GMU’s requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason’s Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/. The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver’s licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or training and work experience;
  • One to three years of applicable experience in facilities management;
  • Working knowledge of NCAA sports;
  • Experience supervising employees/interns/student workers;
  • Experience with onboarding and payroll systems; and
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.

A successful criminal and motor vehicle background check is required for this position.
