Assistant Manager of Maintenance and Repair
Under the supervision of the Maintenance and Repair Manager, the Assistant Manager of Maintenance and Repair supervises electrical, mechanical, and control systems maintenance on the Rubber Tire Gantry Cranes, Ship to Shore Cranes, and Spreaders. Also directs GPA and contractor skilled craft labor in installation, maintenance, and repairs to electrical systems and controls, mechanical systems, and STS / RTG / spreader material handling equipment. Coordinates with operations to schedule preventive maintenance and repairs of GPA equipment by GPA and contractor personnel. Provides direct technical support to GPA personnel for troubleshooting and repair of crane systems during emergency and non-emergency conditions. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance practices for rotating machinery and the craft labor skill sets required to maintain it.
High level of computer skills required. Planning and scheduling experience and job estimating, for both labor and material, desired. Ability to deal effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels as well as customers and the general public required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Four year college degree in engineering, or related technical field required. Formal training or extensive on the-job training in areas related to control systems and ac drives required. Four year college degree in engineering, or related technical field required. Three years of related work experience desired. Prior supervisory experience desired. Must meet the criteria for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Valid state driver's license required.
