Mechanical Design / Sustaining Engineer

DEMA is seeking a motivated person for the position of Mechanical Design/Product Support Engineer. This person will join our product engineering team and be responsible for products as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- R&D / Solving product problems
- Structure BOM’s and release drawings for customized products (Engineering Work Requests)
- Assist in the transfer of new products from R&D to manufacturing
- Provide manufacturing with engineering support and documentation for existing products
- Implement design changes based on requirements from production, quality control, or customers
- Design reviews (interference, fit, functionality per specifications)
- Working directly with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to solve problems and implement changes
- PDM/Solidworks Administrator
Requirements:
- Able to work independently or in team environments
- Solidworks modeling (part, assembly, drawing, and simulation)
- Plastic injection molded component design as well as sheet metal design
- DFM - Design for Manufacturability (injection molding, sheet metal, assembly)
- Effective use of MS-Office products

- Must have an attitude that fosters positive thinking, flexibility, and continuous improvement
- Has excellent organizational skills, initiative, is detail oriented, and can shift priorities as needed
- Effective verbal and written communication skills - able to interact with internal/external contacts around the world from production personnel to executives
- Able to use judgment and independent thinking in the resolution of issues and in the interpretation of data
- Capable of rapid concept visualization and able to communicate effectively with customer
Experience:
- Minimum BSME or equivalent from an accredited engineering college or university
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a degreed mechanical engineer in a product development, quality, or manufacturing capacity
- Minimum 5 years of experience with small scale part design, injection molding, sheet metal, and DFM
- Experience with hands on prototyping and testing a plus (3D printing, mill, lathe, and testing equipment)
