Dental Assistant
Needed for a busy practice in Beaufort, SC. Assistant must be experienced, kind, outgoing, highly motivated and a team player. Benefits such as health insurance and vacation are included. Experience with CBCT, implants and Endodontics are not necessary, but recommended.
Dental Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
- Gathering patient information and health background
- Pulling up patient dental and relevant medical history for dentist to refer to during examination
- Preparing patients for dentist
- Providing patient care and support
- Taking X-rays of patient’s teeth and processing results
- Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment
- Preparing the work area for procedures
- Assisting dentist by using suction hoses and other equipment during exam
- Assisting dentist by handing them instruments and equipment, taking notes when needed
- Educating patients on good oral hygiene habits
- Preparing materials for crowns or dental impressions
- Performing coronal polishing, sealant application, fluoride application, and topical anesthetic application as needed
- Updating patient records and treatment plans
- Directing patients and maintaining schedule
- Stocking treatment areas and monitoring inventory
- Calling patients for aftercare and answering questions on procedures and follow-up treatment appointments
Dental Assistant Requirements and Qualifications
- Accurate and precise attention to detail
- Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures
- Compassionate and caring of patients
- Knowledge of aseptic and sterilizing techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work in an intense, concentrated environment
- Calm and cool-headed with a positive attitude
- Complies with all regulations, protocols, and procedure
- Degree from school accredited by Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and American Dental Association
- Dental Assisting certification: Licensed, registered, or certified by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB)
- Current certification in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
- X-Ray Certification: Meet all local and state requirements to operate radiography equipment
- Understanding of standard practices and procedures
- Good interpersonal skills and communication
- Computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite and/or scheduling software
