The Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District is accepting applications for the following probationary teaching positions & support staff position beginning in September 2019:
- Social Studies Teacher
In the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive learning environment that recognizes the unique needs and talents of all students by combining character education with a curriculum based on critical thinking. The emphasis is on teaching the whole child in order to create lifelong learners who are best prepared for college, career and beyond.
Responsibilities & Skills:
The successful candidate will:
Be responsible for teaching Social Studies;
Have a strong background and/or experience in designing engaging lessons that enhance collaborative learning and critical thinking skills;
Be expected to fully participate in all typical teacher responsibilities including day-to-day instructional duties and administrative tasks;
Be expected to serve as a role model for the students, staff and the community with regard to setting high expectations for learners and supporting them in reaching their goals;
Serve as an active member of the CSUFSD professional learning community;
Have a strong background and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, including intervention strategies and strategies to support a diversity of student learning needs; and
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements:
New York State Certification in Social Studies 7-12 required
Qualifications:
Experience as a classroom teacher preferred
Knowledge of NYS Social Studies Framework and Standards
Background in research-based practices for engaging learners through critical thinking, collaborative structures, and project-based learning
- Spanish Teacher

Have experience in the early childhood setting;
Possess extraordinary organizational skills;
Be expected to effectively communicate and collaborate with parents, students, and peers;
Be willing to contribute to the school community outside of the classroom;
Introduce students to concepts that are to be explored further in Kindergarten, such as early literacy;
Contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate into Kindergarten;
Show evidence of successful implementation of instructional support to struggling learners and/or students in need of enrichment opportunities;
Observe each child to help them improve his/her social competencies and build self-esteem;
Create and maintain individual data, records and reports to show evidence of student growth;
Demonstrated knowledge of technology and its application in the classroom;
Possess knowledge of the Common Core Learning Standards
Requirements and Qualifications:
NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth – Grade 2) is required—Initial or Professional Early Childhood Birth-Grade 2, or Permanent Pre-K-6
Preferred Experience (not required):
Experience as an early childhood classroom teacher
Strong classroom management skills and use of behavioral strategies
Experience with planning and preparation for Pre-Kindergarten targeting areas related to child development, such as social, motor, language skills, and early literacy
- Student Support Specialist Position

RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS:
The successful candidate will:
Possess a strong knowledge and proficiency in developing and monitoring student intervention plans (academic and behavioral plans);
Have a strong background and/or experience in implementing research based interventions to support the learning, behavioral, and social development of at-risk students;
Be experienced in developing behavioral assessments and intervention plans, preferably utilizing principles of applied behavioral analysis within a team based approach;
Be expected to serve as a role model for the students, staff and the community with regard to setting high expectations for learners and supporting them in reaching their goals;
Serve as an active member of the CSUFSD professional learning community including attendance at various meetings;
Possess a strong knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention;
Have experience working with students, staff, and families in a K-12 system; and
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Requirements:
NYS Certification in one of the following areas:
School Psychologist, School Social Worker or School Counselor
