POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Compliance Program Manager is responsible for advancing and promoting Case Western Reserve University’s compliance vision, plan, and operational steps, which are consistent with the university's mission, vision, and core values. Under the supervision of the University Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, this position will identify, coordinate, and execute opportunities to develop university compliance in the areas of privacy, conflicts of interest, youth protection, and other areas as needed. Working with a high degree of independence, the compliance program manager will serve as liaison on behalf of the university’s compliance program to eight diverse schools and colleges, centers, institutes, and other campus units across a variety of compliance subject-matter areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Identify, coordinate, and execute opportunities to promote and advance university compliance in the areas of privacy, conflicts of interest, youth protection, and other compliance areas. Proactively enhance the university's compliance plans in these areas. (10%)
- Contribute to the development of university policies, standards, and expectations in the areas of privacy, conflicts of interest, youth protection, and other areas. (10%)
- Strategically enhance and improve the university's compliance training efforts of faculty and staff members. Serve as a point-person regarding compliance training in the areas of privacy, conflicts of interest, youth protection, and other areas as needed. Proactively determine populations in need of training or refresher training and deliver educational compliance training live in person, remotely, in groups, and/or one-on-one as needed. (10%)
- Build and maintain close working relationships with internal administrative offices, divisions, and stakeholder groups to better understand existing university systems; influence and help build-in compliance monitoring within those systems to support improved compliance across the university. Engage internal stakeholders about compliance priorities that impact various constituencies within the University. (10%)
- Gather, synthesize, and maintain data to monitor and measure university members' compliance with federal, state, and local laws and university policies. (10%)
- Maintain the Compliance Program website as an up-to-date and helpful resource for the university community. (10%)
- Advise and provide support to university members who seek clarification on university policies and standards and Investigate instances of noncompliance. Serve as a subject-matter expert to departmental representatives and program staff regarding matters relating to privacy, conflicts of interest, youth protection, and other compliance areas. Promptly and completely respond to university members who contact the Compliance Program seeking guidance or reporting a concern. (20%)
- Investigate allegations of noncompliance. Write and maintain accurate and complete investigation reports. (20%)
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform other compliance duties as assigned. (<1%)
CONTACTS
Department: Regular contact with supervisor and other members of the department to exchange information.
University: Regular contact with all areas of the university to exchange information.
External: Limited contacts external to the university to exchange information.
Students: Occasional contact with students to exchange information.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
No direct staff supervision at the time of this posting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 1 to 3 years. Experience in a compliance role is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree.

- Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with diverse groups, including staff from multiple departments and an appreciation for the sometimes-conflicting goals among different parties, and must have the ability to navigate these dynamics.
- Strong computer and technology skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office environment. This position may be eligible for the staff hybrid work program pending approval.
