The Hilton Head, SC office of Burr & Forman LLP is seeking a Legal Practice Assistant to work closely with attorneys and paralegals on the processing of immigration petitions and employment matters for our clientele. We have a national Business Immigration and Global Mobility practice, and this position will provide administrative legal support for our practice and perform other projects and assignments as needed. KEY CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Perform complex administrative duties supporting attorneys and paralegals in connection with all aspects of immigration/employment documents and filings, including calendaring, correspondence and document preparation
  • Utilize immigration case management system for electronic filing and management of immigration documents including reminder notifications, reporting and case activities
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with file maintenance, new matter intake, monitoring matter progress and related duties
  • Prepare Excel reports and PowerPoint presentations for various engagements
  • Plan and prepare travel arrangements and process expense reimbursements.
  • Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills as needed
  • Open and maintain client files, cases and organizational documents
  • Respond to inquiries for information
  • Other responsibilities as needed

The ESSENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Associate's degree or equivalent or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong technology skills and experience with Microsoft Office/Outlook/PowerPoint and Excel and/or willingness to learn immigration software
  • Ability to type 50 wpm
  • Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive, and a team player who takes ownership
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and work effectively under deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision
