Administrative Assistant- Campus Police and Safety

Bridgewater College’s Campus Police and Safety Department welcomes candidates to apply for the position of Administrative Assistant. This position performs a variety of duties including organizing, planning and coordinating various operations necessary to maintain an orderly campus, and provide safety and information to its staff and students. The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support and oversees permits for parking, managing the departmental budget, and maintaining a successful and community-oriented work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Advances the College’s mission using community policing and other best practices in campus law enforcement

·      Directs the application of best practices to continually improve performance of Campus Police and safety

·      Provides administrative and clerical support to the campus police and safety function.

·      Regularly interacts with students, staff, and visitors and provides excellent customer service

·      Provides administrative assistance, such as writing e-mails and reviewing reports, and maintaining accurate department records, etc.

·      Answers phone calls in a polite and professional manner

·      Welcomes visitors and identifies the purpose of their visit before directing them to the appropriate solution

·      Coordinates law enforcement activities with other law enforcement agencies and first responders

·      Monitors budgetary expenses and assists in preparation of the department budget

·      Orders office supplies and handles direction concerning capital department purchases.

·      Attends various meetings as required. Records meeting minutes and/or notes.

·      Maintains strict confidentiality concerning student records and information, and department administration information

·      Supports campus police and safety during campus special events which may include home football games, commencement, new student orientation, etc. Requires on-campus presence.

·      Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years related experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills: Ability to deliver and provide explanation of negative police and/or College policy actions. Ability to handle difficult reactions and deescalates when required.
