New Beaufort County Government Employment Opportunities:
Business License Specialist: Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical work in the processing of payments for Business Licenses, Accommodations Tax, Hospitality Tax, Admission Fees and other miscellaneous receipts. Verifies payment amounts, sends out balance due letters and assists customers with forms. Interprets and articulates all county ordinances dealing with business licenses, taxes and fees as indicated in the county code. Works closely with business owners, County departments, and other entities to ensure that all appropriate information and fees due the County have been received prior to issuance of business license. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s Degree with course work in accounting, Three (3) years experience in accounting/finance related field, Excellent oral and written communication skills, Excellent customer service skills, Ability to interpret and apply the County Business License ordinances, Basic computer skills, with proficiency in Excel and Word
Coroner Transport - PART TIME: Assists the County Coroner and Deputy Coroner in conducting the investigation of deaths reported to the Coroner’s Office. Duties include but are not limited to promptly responding to calls from Dispatch to pick up decedents, transporting bodies for autopsy, properly storing bodies. Assists Coroner/Deputy Coroners and/or Investigator at death scene with preliminary examination of body and taking photos of scene, follows established procedures for releasing bodies to funeral homes and participates in required on-going training. Performs other duties as assigned. Position is on-call, part-time, with rotating duty shifts. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent, Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license, Available to work rotating shifts - which will include nights, weekends and holidays, Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required
Administrative Clerk - Parks and Recreation: Performs general administrative, clerical, and customer service duties; processes and distributes various forms, documents, and correspondence; accepts payments for various activities and memberships, performs data entry and associated computer tasks, and assists customers by responding to routine questions or complaints, researching problems, and initiating problem resolution. Performs additional duties including but not limited to light maintenance and cleaning. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED, One (1) year clerical experience, 6 months cashiering or money handling experience, Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, Excellent customer service skills, Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required, Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, Requires evening and Saturday work (Monday-Friday 4pm-8pm and Saturday 8am-6pm)
Lifeguards - Parks and Recreation: Works in specialized area of recreation. Performs lifeguarding duties as well as instructing all levels of class instruction needed in aquatics. Ensures the safety of pool patrons. Prepares course objectives, plans lessons, selects appropriate drills, and evaluates students and course for the Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School or GED, One (1) year experience in aquatics (swimming instruction, water safety instruction, life guarding, first aid, CPR), Must possess and maintain valid Certified Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications from the American Red Cross, Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required, Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
