Administrative Clerk / Parks & Recreation - $13.06 hr - Performs general administrative, clerical, and customer service duties; processes and distributes various forms, documents, and correspondence; accepts payments for various activities and memberships, performs data entry and associated computer tasks, and assists customers by responding to routine questions or complaints, researching problems, and initiating problem resolution. Performs additional duties including but not limited to light maintenance and cleaning.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • High school diploma or GED • One (1) year clerical experience
• 6 months cashiering or money handling experience • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent customer service skills • Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license • May require some evening and Saturday work
Administrative Specialist / Veterans Affairs - $15.35 hr - Under general supervision, performs routine clerical duties for the Veteran’s Affairs Department of Beaufort County. Responsibilities can include, but are not limited to: coordinating staffing needs; reviewing, verifying, and processing applications, certifications, licenses, permits and other documents; preparing and providing specific department information to clients and the public; maintaining databases and department websites; preparing and modifying routine and non-routine reports, newsletters and correspondence; monitoring deposits and payments; maintaining office supply and inventory; preparing meeting agenda and taking minutes; coordinating events; planning and coordinating the work of lower level support staff. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • High school diploma or GED
• Associates degree in Business Management or related field preferred • Three (3) years clerical or secretarial experience required • Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Basic communication, comprehension and math skills required
Executive Assistant / Treasurer's Office - $16.87 hr - Serves as a confidential secretary to the Treasurer, which includes duties such as, but not limited to, creating and proofreading complex reports, correspondence, press releases, presentations and memoranda from rough drafts or verbal instructions: exercising independent judgement in the performance of administrative and secretarial duties: manage Treasurer’s Office website and social media updates: and handling general inquires such as requests for information. Minimum Requirements: • High school diploma or GED • College degree preferred • Five (5) years previous experience involving office administration and executive secretarial work • Strong business communication skills
• Ability to exercise situational awareness and multitask • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Commercial Plans Examiner / Building Codes - $54,000 annually - Conducts plan reviews for commercial construction, additions, alterations and remodeling projects and ensures compliance with all applicable state codes. Identifies code violations and compliance issues and the needed corrective actions. Consults with other parties regarding codes, inspection procedures and issues pertaining to code compliance and services. Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of inspection work and researches information for permitting and inspections as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Associate’s degree with course work emphasis in architecture, engineering, construction, drafting, or related field or have two (2) years experience working with building plans and/or codes.• Must possess certification from the State of South Carolina as a commercial combination plans examiner or equivalent certification that grants authorization to perform the duties as a commercial combination plans examiner; or achieve one certification within the first year of employment, then a maximum of one year for each additional certification until fully certified under state law to perform the duties as a combination plans examiner with specialty certification in Building, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. • Must possess a valid SC Driver’s License
